WASHINGTON — Lions defeat Mitchell

LOOGOOTEE - The Loogootee softball team got three runs in the first on its way to a 8-4 victory over Mitchell Tuesday.

Loogootee starting pitcher Chassidy Bridges opened the game with four scoreless innings before Mitchell plated three in the top of the fifth to cut the Lion lead to 4-3.

Loogootee tacked on a run in the bottom of the inning on a Kelsy Seals’ RBI single. Mitchell added another run in the top of the six, but the Lions closed the door on the victory with three runs in the bottom of the sixth on a two-run triple from Waylee Wagoner and an RBI single from Madison Zins.

Bridges went the distance, walking three and striking out two.

North Daviess drops game

BICKNELL - The North Daviess baseball team (5-10) lost at North Knox 14-5 Tuesday as Cougars pitchers walked 10 batters and hit two others. North Daviess had 11 hits.

Barr-Reeve tops Hatchets

MONTGOMERY - Barr-Reeve defeated Washington in junior high tennis Tuesday.

Bailey Tanksley defeated Gissele Santos at No. 1 singles 8-1, as did Leah Bullock beat Alex Gray at No. 2 singles. Brianna Yoder won 8-3 in No. 3 singles over Caitlyn Riester.

Emma Steiner-Krislyn Knepp defeated Tianna Inman-Rayven Graber 8-3 in No. 1 doubles, and Annie Graber-Amy Wittmer-Natalie Schulthies defeated Emily Taylor-Lauren Boyd 8-2 at No. 2 doubles. Graber replaced Wittmer, who had an injury with the score 5-0.

In reserve matches, Jayna Wagler-Annie Graber won 6-0 over Cheyenne Boyd-Lauren Boyd. Janae Graber-Mary Lang topped Alexis Brown-Marissa Freeman 6-3. Bailey Graber-Marissa Helms defeated Joselyn Williams-Brisia Rodriguez 6-3. Paige Neukam-Nicole McMullen bested Emily Ramsey-Katie Matthews 6-2.

Abbie Bennett-Janae Knepp defeated Hannah Matthews-Shayna Arvin 6-4.
