WASHINGTON — North Daviess places third

EVANSVILLE - The North Daviess softball team (17-7) finished third at the Evansville Central Tournament Saturday by compiling a record of 2-1.

Evansville Central and Evansville Memorial were the top two finishers.

The Cougars’ lone loss of the week was to Class 4A No. 2 Evansville Central

(24-2) 9-1 Friday evening. The Cougars recorded seven hits in the loss. Jess Miller had two hits with a double, Brooke Lindy had one hit, Ashley Troutman had two, Cassie Knepp had a double and Alexis Reed had a single.

North Daviess defeated Mt. Vernon 3-0 in the Cougars’ first game Saturday.

The battery of Morgan Wadsworth and Cassie Knepp, plus the Cougar defense held Mt. Vernon to three hits. North Daviess RBIs were recorded by Ashley Troutman and Tailon Graber. Tailon Graber and Cassie Knepp had two hits apiece, while Larynda Keith, Jess Miller and Kyle Hanna had one hit each.

In the Cougars’ 12-2 win over Forest Park Saturday, Tailon Graber held the Rangers to five hits in seven innings. North Daviess pounded out 11 hits on its own. Brooke Lindy was 2-for-3 with two doubles, Larynda Keith was 2-for-4, and Jess Miller was 2-for-3 with a double. Maggie Swartzentruber was 1-for-1 with a double, Morgan Wadsworth was 1-for-1 and Tailon Graber was 1-for-2.

Vikings top Wood, 5-0

MONTGOMERYR - Barr-Reeve defeated Wood Memorial 5-0 Saturday. Allison Hoover defeated Sarah Hornby, 6-0, 6-1, and Melody Rohrer defeated Shelby McGregor, 6-1, 6-0, in the first two singles matches. At No. 3 singles, Bethanie Knepp beat Madison Shoultz, 6-1, 6-0.

In double matches, Destiny Kidwell-Hania Sisco defeated Gina Strickland-Audrey Tepe 6-0, 6-0. Baleigh Miller-Kaitlin Swartzentruber defeated Sam Callahan-Kyndall Hicks 6-1, 6-2.

Vikings fall to Gibson Southern

FORT BRANCH - The Barr-Reeve baseball team dropped a 10-0 contest to Gibson Southern Saturday afternoon.

Heath Graber started for the Vikings, and allowed four runs in two innings.

Gibson Southern scored two runs each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

Stanley Kemp had two hits to lead the Vikings, and Cain Miller, Heath Graber, Logan James, Logan Lengacher and Jon McMullen all had one hit apiece.

Girls fifth, boys sixth at SWIAC

LINTON - The North Daviess junior high girls track team placed fifth with with a score of 55 points, while the boys team finished sixth with 54 points at the boys and girls SWIAC meet Saturday.

For the North Daviess girls, Hunter Beuhler fifth in 100 meters, second in

200 meters, sixth in long jump and sixth in 400 meter relay. Lilly Vandermel fnished sixth in the 1600 meters, eighth in high jump, second in pole vault, and sixth in 1600 meter relay.

Alissa Whitehead placed eighth in the 200 meters and third in the 400 meter relay.

Holli Norris finished third in the pole vault and third in the 400 meter relay. Lindsey Gingerich placed second in the shot put and seventh in discus. Ashtin Wilson finished third in the 400 meter relay. Myranda Knepp, Sarah Lyons and Brittany Myers placed sixth in the 1600 meter relay and sixth in the 3200 meter relay. Emily Remsburg placed sixth in the 3200 meter relay.

For the North Daviess boys, William Webster finished fifth in the 100 meters, second in the 200 meters, sixth in the long jump and sixth in the 400 meter relay. Isaiah Borders finished sixth in the 1600 meters, eighth in the high jump, second in the pole vault, sixth in the 1600 meter relay.

Jonathon Ritter placed sixth in the 110 meter hurdles, and seventh in the

300 meter hurdles. Evan Klingle placed sixth in the shot put and third in the discus. David Shands finished eighth in the discus and Hayden Morris finished fifth in the shot put.

Kyle Smith finished sixth in both the 400 meter relay and 1600 meter relay.

AJ Wade and Phillip Archer placed sixth in the 1600 meter relay and seventh in the 3200 meter relay.

Brandon Arney and Tyler Brinegar finished sixth in the 400 meter relay. Ian Bird and Wyatt Allen finished seventh in the 3200 relay.
