GREENWOOD —  North Daviess tennis coach Lucas Calhoun and former player Stacey Beard played in the Uncle Sam Grand Slam mixed doubles, placing fourth.

Calhoun said the competition was very good, and that Beard, who has finished her freshman season at the University of Sioux Falls, has improved her game.

“We played well,” Calhoun said. “It’s evident that Stacy has taken her game up a notch. The competition was tough. Our first opponents has a U.S. Junior Open round of 32 finish.”

The duo is hoping to have the chance to compete in a few additional tournaments before the end of the month.
