In the final game of the season at the Bird Cage, Washington Catholic played well, but they couldn't snap its 10-game losing streak.
South Central (13-7) defeated the Cardinals (2-20) 58-46 Friday night in the regular season finale for both teams. Colton Reed¹s 17 points led Washington Catholic offensively.
The Cardinals trailed by a point after the first quarter, 13-12. The Rebels won the second quarter 11-8, and took a 24-20 lead at halftime. Washington Catholic shot 52 percent from the field in the first half and held South Central to 44 percent shooting, but still trailed by four.
In the third quarter, the Rebels put some distance between themselves and the Cardinals by outscoring Washington Catholic 21-15 to take a 45-35 lead into the fourth quarter. The Rebels won the fourth quarter 13-11 to close out the Cardinals in the 58-46 victory.
In addition to Reed¹s 17 points, Brendan Purdue scored 10, Christian Neace had six, TJ HIll and Jonathan Mitchell scored four points apiece, Brandon Strange had three points and NIck Boyd rounded out the Cardinals scoring with two points.
