    The Tecumseh Braves entered Tuesday looking for their eighth straight regional title, but North Daviess had other ideas.

    The Cougars (16-11) jumped on the Braves (17-11) immediately on their way to a 7-2 victory to clinch a berth in Saturday's softball semistate in Elnora and their 16th win in the last 21 games.

    Vincennes Rivet (19-7) defeated Barr-Reeve (16-9) 1-0 in nine innings in the Class A baseball sectional championship game at Les Page Field Saturday night.

  • Barr-Reeve tops North Daviess 7-6 in sectional

    For the second year in a row, Barr-Reeve topped North Daviess by a run in extra innings in the baseball sectional.

    The Vikings used a suicide squeeze from sophomore Logan James to score Adam Graber in the bottom of the 11th inning to defeat the Cougars, 7-6.

    Jacob Smiley led the Cougar offense with two RBIs, while Clay Wilson, Nate Gingerich and Tommy Newby each added an RBI. James, Lucas Graber, Trevor Yoder and Jalon Graber each had an RBI for the Vikings.

    Graber earned the victory with 7 2-3 scoreless innings of relief for Barr-Reeve.

    For the second year in a row, Vincennes Rivet has ended Loogootee's season.

    The Patriots (18-7) defeated the Lions (15-12) 11-1 in the semifinals of the Class A baseball sectional at Les Page Field. The Lions fell to the Patriots 5-4 a year ago in the sectional.
