Published May 08, 2008 03:17 pm - William “Dirk” Combs, 47, of Washington, died at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.
Born June 1, 1960, in Evansville, he was the son of Bill and Vera (Gammon) Combs.

William “Dirk” Combs, 47, of Washington, died at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.

Born June 1, 1960, in Evansville, he was the son of Bill and Vera (Gammon) Combs.

He attended St. Simon Catholic Church and was serving on the Washington YMCA Board, the Renal Network Board, and was a member of the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization. He was an IHSAA swimming referee and volunteered with the Washington High School Athletic Department.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela “Pam” (McCormick) Combs, whom he married March 31, 1979; one daughter, Amber Combs of Atlanta, Ga., father and stepmother, Bill and Betty Combs of Greenwood; two sisters, Lisa Rogers of Greenwood and Tracie Brown of Indianapolis; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carolyn and Norm Bouchie; six nieces and nephews, Libby Rogers, Zachary Combs, and Will, Joe, Abby and Margaret McCormick.

His mother, Vera Combs, died December 1978.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Simon Catholic Church, with Rev. Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at St Mary Catholic Church, with a wake service at 3:30 p.m.

Preferred memorials are to IOPO, 429 N. Pennsylvania, Suite 201, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
