Nina Barker

ODON — Nina Barker, 96, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday at Ketcham Memorial Nursing Center.
Born April 1, 1912, in Greene County, she was the daughter of William Bid and Cora (McFarren) Carpenter.
A homemaker, she attended Mt. Nebo Church and Pleasant Hill Church. She was a 13-year volunteer at Ketcham Memorial Center.
She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Jean DeVine of Odon and Joyce and Donald Pergal of Indianapolis; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Ruth Barker and Steve and Janice Barker, all of Newberry; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Hasler and Marcella Sakalauski, both of Odon; and brother, Wendell Carpenter of Bloomfield.
Her husband, John H. Barker Sr., died in 1984. Two sisters, Vernal Twombly and Vivian Barker; four brothers, Kenneth, Leroy, Cletus and Loveall “Johnny” Carpenter; and two grandsons are also deceased.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Poindexter-Hall and McClure Funeral Home, with Rev. Bob Duley officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Ketcham Memorial Nursing Center.
