FREELANDVILLE — Diane Sue Buckthal, 63, died at 1:02 a.m. Saturday at Bloomington Hospital.
Born April 21, 1945, in Vincennes, she was the daughter of Paul and Alma Ruth (Linneweber) Lueking.
She worked in administration at NWSC Crane and most recently was employed with Good Samaritan Hosital. She also worked on the family farm and enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren. She sang in several choirs and served on many church committees. She was also a member of the Salem United Church of Christ, was a board member for the Freelandville Community Home and was a Bonafidelis. She also had an avid interest in books.
She is survived by her husband, Allen Buckthal, whom she married Feb. 28, 1965; daughters and son-in-law, Dawn E. Buckthal of Indianapolis and Bonnie and Brian Organ of Freelandville; grandchildren, Jesse and Emilee Organ; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alan and Shirley Lueking of Sullivan and Jim and Jane Lueking of Bloomfield; sister-in-law, Donna Lueking of Westphalia; and brother-in-law, Jerry Bland of Ohio.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Steve Lueking, and one sister, Paula Bland.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Salem United Church of Christ, with Dr. Donald Buckthal and Rev. Peter Haskins officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Salem United Church of Christ in Westphalia.
Preferred memorials are to the Freelandville Community Home or the Salem United Church of Christ.
