Lorene McDaniel, 85, died at 7:40 p.m. Monday at Daviess Community Hospital.

Born April 19, 1923, in Greenville, Ky., she was the daughter of Thomas and Lena (McCrocklin) Davis.

She reupholstered furniture for many people in and around Washington and was an avid sewer.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Guy Mattingly of Washington; two sons and daughter-in-law, Bob and Jackie McDaniel of Lawrenceburg and Tim McDaniel of Washington; six grandchildren, Rodney McDaniel of New York, Marla Weis, Scott Mattingly, Lindsay McCain, Samantha Mattingly and Leslie McDaniel, all of Washington; and great-grandchildren, Danny Norton, Allyson Weis, Carmen Weis, Hannah McCain, Nolan McCain and Marli McDaniel, all of Washington.

Her husband, James McDaniel, whom she married March 25, 1944, died Oct. 26, 2003. Three sisters, Louise Davis, Barbara Davis and Shine Johnson, and four brothers, Thomas, Gardener, John and Ralph Davis, are also deceased.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ed Lee Mortuary, with Yvonne Evans officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from noon until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
