— SHOALS — Simone Angele Denny, 86, died at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday at Wilmington Hospital in North Carolina.
Born April 20, 1922, in Epernon, France, she was the daughter of Louis and Louise (Barbier) Seguin.
She was educated at Enghien Les Bains school in France. She retired from RCA in Bloomington in 1985 after 20 years of service. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shoals, Shoals American Legion Auxiliary No. 61 and Shoals V.F.W. No. 8589.
She is survived by one son, Jesse R. Denny of Shoals; three daughters, Marie Hawkins of Shoals, Susie Burch of Carolina Beach, N.C., and Jackie Martin of Avoca; 11 grandchildren, Patrick Hawkins, Aundie Dant, Angela Dabney, Jo Dee Stich, Michelle Bruner, Dylan Denny, Ryan Denny, Chad Martin, Nathan Martin, Nicole Martin and Sandy Muro; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Bert Alonzo Denny, whom she married Feb. 25, 1947 in Kettering, Ohio, died July 15, 2005. A son, Bert Pierre Denny, died May 3, 2006.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Queen-Lee Funeral Home, Shoals. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shoals.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
