Published August 18, 2008 04:06 pm - Donald Nelson “Don” Humbaugh, 73, of Washington, died at 3:53 p.m. Sunday at his residence.
Born Jan. 8, 1935, in Milwaukee, Wis., he was the son of Nelson William and Matilda (Kixmiller) Humbaugh.

Donald Nelson “Don” Humbaugh, 73, of Washington, died at 3:53 p.m. Sunday at his residence.

Born Jan. 8, 1935, in Milwaukee, Wis., he was the son of Nelson William and Matilda (Kixmiller) Humbaugh.

A 1953 graduate of Washington High School, he was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked with his father, until his retirement in 1980, at American Laundry and then he and his brother Rex owned and operated the laundry until its closing in 1997. He was a member of Charity Lodge No. 30 F&AM, Scottish Rite and Hadi Shrine in Evansville and Elks Lodge.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Tim Hawk of Bancroft, Wis.; sons and daughters-in-law, Max Edward and Cathy Humbaugh of Eagle River, Wis., and Sam Nelson and Cindy Humbaugh of Washington; daughter-in-law, Kim Humbaugh of Washington; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, Rex Humbaugh of Washington.

His wife, Patricia Ruth (Smith) Humbaugh, whom he married June 19, 1954, died May 30, 2008. One son, Ted Michael Humbaugh, died in 2006.

Private family services will be held, with Bro. Richard Smith officiating. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens. There will be no visitation.

Arrangements are being made through Gill Chapel.
