Published August 26, 2008 03:10 pm - BLOOMFIELD — Wilma L. Hugunin, 89, died at 9 p.m. Monday at Washington Nursing Center. Born April 4, 1919, in Odon, she was the daughter of Ernest Walter and Elma (Dowden) Hugunin.

BLOOMFIELD — Wilma L. Hugunin, 89, died at 9 p.m. Monday at Washington Nursing Center.
Born April 4, 1919, in Odon, she was the daughter of Ernest Walter and Elma (Dowden) Hugunin.
She served in the Women’s Army Air Corps in the 8th Division in England, France and Germany. She was a buyer and designer in the fashion industry for I. Magnin in Chicago and San Francisco, retiring in 1983. She was a member of Bloomfield American Legion and the Air Force Association.
She is survived by three sisters, Opal Davidson of Kalona, Iowa, Mae Stuffle of Loogootee, and Helen Boling of Bloomfield; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Richard, James Hiram, Elbert and Edward T. Hugunin; and two sisters, Joyce Merritt and Mona Faye Snyder.
There will be no public visitation or services. Burial will be in Newberry Cemetery, with military honors by American Legion Post 196.
