HARDINSBURG — Ruth K. Clements, 88, died Tuesday at Loogootee Nursing Center following a brief illness.

Born April 16, 1921, she was the daughter of Lyman and Stella (Gullett) Davis.

She graduated from Hardinsburg High School in 1939 and attended New Albany Business College. She worked as a bookkeeper in New Albany before moving back to Hardinsburg to be a partner in the family farm. She married Vance Clements on Oct. 23, 1944.

Ruth had many interests in addition to farming: cooking, gardening, flowers, her many pets over the years, bird watching, horses and watching Pacer’s basketball and golf on television.

Survivors include her daughter, Vanita Clements of Carmel; grandson, Michael Clements of Indianapolis; and daughter-in-law, Judy Clements of Washington.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Vance of 46 years; and her son, Don M. Clements.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Kemple Funeral Home, 226 W. Campbell St., Paoli. Burial will follow in Hardinsburg Cemetery, with Rev. James R. Downs officiating.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.

Memorial donations may be made to the Washington County Humane Society.
