PETERSBURG — John Drof, 82, died Tuesday at Jasper Memorial Hospital.

He was born in Petersburg March 21, 1926, to William and Iva Black Drof.

He was a graduate of Petersburg High School and Indiana State University. While living in Petersburg he was employed as the editor of The Pike Dispatch. While living in the Washington, D.C., area he worked for both the Federal and District of Columbia governments. He was active in various community organizations throughout his life.

John is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joyce Drof of Petersburg; a son, Jon Drof and his wife Dilek of Germany; and daughters Jennifer Drof of Woodbridge, Va., and Virginia and Janna Drof of Zuni, Va.; and two grandsons, Jay and Shayne Drof of Germany.

He was preceded in death by one brother, William Drof, and four sisters, Catherine Oliver, Sarah Whitelock, Frances Broshears and Beatrice “Pete” Klipsch.

There will be no memorial or funeral service.
