Published November 15, 2009 07:27 pm - Kelley Lee Burgess, 38, of Washington, died at 12:14 a.m. Saturday at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.
Born March 9, 1971, in St. Joseph, Mo., he was the son of Chester Henry “Bud” and Bonnie Jean (Swope) Burgess.

Kelley Lee Burgess, 38, of Washington, died at 12:14 a.m. Saturday at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.

Born March 9, 1971, in St. Joseph, Mo., he was the son of Chester Henry “Bud” and Bonnie Jean (Swope) Burgess.

A 1991 graduate of Washington High School, he was a driver for United Parcel Service in Washington. He was a member of Church on the Way and Lighthouse Ministries. He loved to serve the Lord and enjoyed comedy.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda (Bradfield) Burgess, whom he married July 29, 2003; one son, Mason Burgess of Washington; one daughter, Chloe Burgess of Washington; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Kevin and Kelsey Burgess of Kansas City, Mo., Jamie and Stacey Burgess of Washington, and Clinton and Ludemia Burgess of Loogootee; parents, Bud and Bonnie Burgess of Washington; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Hazel Swope and William and Sadie Burgess.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Church on the Way, with Bros. Jeff Jones, Paul Hyatt and Pete Aldrich officiating.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Gill Chapel and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
