---- — MONTGOMERY — Frank S. “Steve” Atwood, 75, died at 2:05 a.m. Thursday at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Born Jan. 17, 1939, in Washington, he was the son of Bernard E. “Gene” and Georgia Dale (Ingersoll) Atwood.
A graduate of Washington High School, he was a truck driver and had owned nursing homes. He enjoyed horse pulling competitions.
He is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Atwood Purcell (Keith), and Greta Atwood; one granddaughter, Alayna Purcell; one sister, Suzan Jane Russell (Roger); and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Gill Funeral Home, with Bro. Byron Holtsclaw officiating. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Garden Mausoleum.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Washington Animal Control and Adoption Facility.
