---- — CENTERVILLE — Shirley Ann Morris, 73, died Thursday at Ambassador Health Care.
Born Jan. 23, 1941, in Daviess County, to Cecil and Geneva May Ashby, Shirley lived most of her life in Centerville.
She was a graduate of Barr-Reeve High School in Montgomery and cosmetology school. Shirley was a hairdresser and taught cosmetology. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and served as a Stephen Minister. Shirley was a member of the Indiana Cosmetology Association.
She was the first female board member on the Centerville Town Board. Shirley enjoyed traveling, sewing, and caring for birds. She was a wonderful and loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 27 years, John A. Morris; children, Denise (Rodney Carlin) Osborne of Richmond, Deneen Phenis of Florida, Darrell (Leah) Nolley of Connersville, Dean (Karen) Morris of Maryland, Scott (Lori) Morris of Ohio, and Amy (Matt) Spiller of Ohio; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Norma Scott of Montgomery, Ala.; brothers, Larry Ashby of Evansville, and Dale Ashby of Washington; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister; and brother.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Doan and Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond, with Pastor Jim Culver officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
