Sharon “Sherry” Lee Neeley, 75, of Washington, moved into her heavenly home Thursday.
Born April 24, 1938, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Otis and Agatha (Fowler) Armstrong.
She was a graduate of Greenville College, Greenville, Ill. A pastor’s wife, she was a teacher for 30 years. She was a member of Free Methodist Church, Free Methodist Women’s Ministries International and Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a devout Christian, energetic and giving — a beautiful expression of God’s love and grace. She loved working with children in her church and will be lovingly remembered and missed by all.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Edward Neeley, whom she married June 21, 1964; a son, Dewayne (Franki) Neeley of Bowling Green, Ky.; grandsons Fowler Neeley, 9, Oliver Neeley, 3, Kruz Neeley, 1 month, all of Bowling Green, Ky., Jacob Hosteter, 13, and Drew Hosteter, 10, both of Frankfort; two brothers, David (June) Armstrong and Richard (Brenda) Armstrong, both of Bedford; several nieces and nephews; two brothers-in-law, James Neeley of Alhambra, Ill., and Harold (Kathy) Neeley of Olney, Ill.; and two sisters-in-law, Ruth (Charles) Comb of Greenville, Ill., and Ruby Chestnut of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
She is preceded in death by her parents. A daughter, Wynette (Neeley) Hosteter, died Sept. 21, 2004.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Free Methodist Church in Bedford. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. (CST) Friday at Fairview Cemetery in Bowling Green, Ky.
Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Washington Free Methodist Church and after 10 a.m. Thursday at Bedford Free Methodist Church.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made as a memorial fund to the Washington Free Methodist Church for children’s ministries.
