Darlene Brown

Darlene L. Brown, 57, of Washington, passed away at 10:17 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville.

Born Oct. 7, 1956, in Tampa, Fla., she was the daughter of Robert and Erman (Scott) Grove.

A 1974 graduate of Washington High School, she was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church.

She was a wonderful loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Charles “Charlie” Brown Jr., whom she married July 4, 1996; one daughter, Ashley Thrasher of Washington; one sister, Tina Mattingly of Washington; one brother, Terry (Jan) Grove of Montgomery; and two grandsons, Eric “Matthew” Holland Jr. and Kameron Holland, both of Washington; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Erman Grove, and two infant brothers, Robert and Scotty Grove.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, with Rev. Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, with military graveside rites by the Washington American Legion and V.F.W.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
