---- — LOOGOOTEE — Emil Francis “Sam” Potts, 81, died at 5:10 a.m. Friday at The Timbers in Jasper.
Born Nov. 25, 1932, in Martin County, he was the son of Marion and Amanda (Davis) Potts.
He was retired from U.S. Gypsum in Shoals.
He is survived by three sons, Greg and wife Dottie Potts of Loogootee, Charlie Potts of Sacramento, Calif., and Joe Potts and Lynn Harshaw of Loogootee; three daughters, Rebecca and husband Darrell Monroe of Fairmount, Kathy Potts of Bloomington, and Stephanie and husband Kevin Beasley of Bloomington; one sister, Marcella Jean Bowman of Stanford; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
His wife, Mary Ruth (Mattingly) Potts, whom he married March 16, 1952, died in February 2002.
His parents and four brothers and four sisters are also deceased.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Bramble.
Visitation is after 11 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
