---- — BURNS CITY — Louis J. Petit, 85, died at 4 a.m. Monday at Select Specialty Hospital.

Born Sept. 28, 1928, in Gilmore, he was the son of Emil and Lizzie (Beatle) Petit.

A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he worked in data processing at Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane for 37 1/2 years and was a superintendent at West Boggs Park for 10 years. He was a member of Burns City Methodist Church, Odon V.F.W., Loogootee American Legion and Loogootee Disabled American Veterans. He served at a volunteer at Ketcham Memorial Center for 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Ladonna (Goodwin) Petit, whom he married Sept. 23, 1950; two sons, Stephen Petit and David Petit, both of Loogootee; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by a son, Stanley Petit; his parents; seven brothers; and one sister.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Poindexter-McClure Funeral Home, Odon Chapel. Burial will be in Burns City Cemetery.

Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
