Lloyd Bateman

BICKNELL — Lloyd D. Bateman, 75, passed away Sunday at his residence. Lloyd was born Feb. 10, 1938, in Daviess County, the son of Quinten and Deloris (Cox) Bateman. He married Carol Southard on Dec. 29, 1960, and she survives him. He worked for Bierhaus. Lloyd was also affiliated with the Pilgrim Holiness Church. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008. He served in the United States Army.

Along with his wife, Carol, Lloyd is survived by two nieces; two nephews; three sisters, Camila Sweet and her husband Don of Silversprings, Fla., Karen Hitchcox and her husband Charles of Indianpolis, and Anita Cripes and her husband Shane of Indianapolis.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Ocie JoAnn Bateman.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Pilgrim Holiness Church, 114 S. Jefferson St. Bicknell, IN 47512, with a memorial service at 3 p.m. with Rev. Maurice Roll officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made through the Plainville High School Alumni Scholarship Fund in memory of Lloyd Bateman, c/o Daviess County Community Foundation, 320 E.
