---- — BRAZIL, Ind. — Joyce Ann Wininger, 64, died Sunday in Terre Haute after a long battle with cancer.
She was born Sept. 6, 1949, in Washington, to James F. and Margaret W. Clements.
She graduated from Washington High School in 1967. In 1968 she married David Wininger. In the 1970s Joyce became the first female mail carrier in Washington. Joyce, David and their two sons moved to Brazil in 1981.
She is survived by her husband David; two sons, Wesley of Los Angeles, Calif., and Kelly (Jana) of Los Angeles;two granddaughters, August (Troy) Haley of Pensacola, Fla., and Josephine Wininger of Los Angeles; and two great-granddaughters, Abbigale Haley and Annabelle Haley of Pensacola; one brother, Larry Hicks of Washington; and three sisters, Karen Harper of Fort Wayne, Cindy Chesser of Washington and Kathy Truelove of Loogootee.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Phillip.
Private services were held Friday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
