WASHINGTON — Kenneth J. Cales, 76, of Washington, passed away Wednesday at noon at Daviess Community Hospital. Born in Summer County, W. Va., he was the son of Russell Kenneth and Claire (Bragg) Cales. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had worked for Brunswick Bowling Alleys at Laurel Lanes Bowling Alley. He is survived by three sons, Russell Cales, Kenneth “Randy” (Lillie) Cales and Christoper “Rick” (Tara) Cales, all of Washington; five sisters, Della Savino, Loren Holland, Florence Lilly and Susan Scott, all of West Virginia, and Vera Buckland of Fort Wayne; one brother, Frank Cales of West Virginia; and four grandchildren. His wife, Linda (Strickland) Cales, died April 27, 1997. His parents; his stepmother who raised him, Saddie Cales; two sisters, Edna Cales and Helen Woods; and two brothers, James R. Cales and Jerry Cales, are also deceased. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sugarland Memory Garden, with Yvonne Evans officiating and military graveside rites conducted by the Washington American Legion and V.F.W.
