LOOGOOTEE — Gilbert L. “Gib” Wininger, 72, died at 1:29 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. Born Sept. 12, 1940, in Daviess County, he was the son of Lois R. and Gladys (Hardy) Wininger. He was a 1958 graduate of Montgomery High School and a member of the Christian faith. Gib was a lifelong truck driver and had recently worked part-time for Traylor Trucking Company in Montgomery. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, White River Masonic Lodge, Moose Lodge in Jasper, Eagle Lodge in Shoals, Loogootee Sons of the American Legion, and the Hadi Shrine Temple in Evansville. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and NASCAR. He is survived by his wife, Pat (Bouillon) Wininger, whom he married March 17, 1990; three sons, Steve Wininger of Jasper, Jim Woody of Bramble, and Scott Woody of Loogootee; one daughter, Vicki Hudson of Bloomington; and six grandchildren, Jack Wininger, Ryan Hudson, Lance Woody, Emma Wininger, Brittany Woody and Brooke Hudson. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Donald Wininger. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery in Washington. Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, with a Masonic service at 6 p.m., and from noon until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home.
