LOOGOOTEE — Rev. Paul F. Tarr, 79, died at 12:20 a.m. Sunday at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
He was born on May 27, 1934, in West Baden, to Cohen and Bertha (Britton) Tarr. On March 12, 1955, he married Lois E. (Davis) Tarr and she survives.
Rev. Tarr was commissioned in the Wesleyan church at the Fern Creek Kentucky conference in 1967. He served the south Indiana district of the Wesleyan church before his health failed. Rev. Tarr ministered in Martin, Greene, Brown, Orange and Monroe counties in Indiana. He was a member of Poplar Grove Wesleyan Church in Shoals. He was also a retired welder with the former Johnson Controls in Vincennes. He enjoyed gardening, painting, doing crafts and was an avid Indiana University basketball fan.
He is survived by his wife, Lois E. Tarr; one son, Greg Tarr and his companion Brenda Bearden of Shoals; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two daughters-in-law, Deanna Bauernfiend of Shoals, and Pronee Tarr of Arlington, Va.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cohen and Bertha (Britton) Tarr; two sons, Stanley Paul Tarr on Feb 9, 2010, and Gary Wilson Tarr on Sept 16, 1991; twin brothers, Joseph and James Tarr; and two sisters, Mary Bundy and Louise Bex.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery in Shoals.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. until the hour of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
