LAUREL HILL, N.C. — Johnnie Wayne Duzan was born in Washington Nov. 19, 1946, son of the late John Andrew Duzan and the late Margie (Dyer) Duzan Garner.
John resided in Bradenton, Fla., for many years where he served as a sheriff’s deputy for the narcotic unit. He then served many years for Walmart in Laurinburg, N.C.
John passed away Monday, Feb. 24, at the age of 67.
Johnnie is survived by his wife, Cindy Nelson Duzan of Laurel Hill, N.C.; son Christopher Duzan of Florida; son Mark Alan Duzan and wife Heidi Kay of Mocksborro, N.C.; daughter Mandy Rusich and husband William of Rockingham, N.C.; and daughter Denise Virginia Simpson and husband Mike of Florida.
John was the oldest child of John A. and Margie Duzan. Siblings that survive are sister Andera E. and husband Mike Sullivan of Mississippi; brother Brad M. Duzan and wife Carolyn Faye of Washington; brother Jude Allen Duzan of Mississippi; brother Mark Todd Duzan and wife Becky Jo of Washington; and sister Lori S. (Duzan) Schnarr and husband David K. Schnarr of Washington; grandchildren, Cullen Eans, Andrew McMillan, Emma Rusich, Bethany Duzan, Abigail Duzan, Caleb Simpson, Hunter Simpson; nieces and nephews, Taylor Duzan, Bartt Cox, Emily Schnarr, Eli Schnarr, Roland Duzan, Phillip Duzan, Jessica Martin, Eric Duzan, Brent Duzan, Chris Duzan, Tim Duzan, Jennifer Duzan, Sierra Sullivan, Cody Sullivan, Chadd Sullivan and Toby Sullivan; and several great-nieces and great nephews.
Lori Schnarr sang for the services, Bethany read a letter, and Abigail read a poem. Andrew played TAPS for the service and at the graveyard.
John was a 40-year member of the Masonic Lodge and loved his John Deere tractors.
Services were held Feb. 28 in North Carolina.
