LINTON — Mary Ruth Colbert, 87, went to Heaven Thursday while at home. She was born on April 1, 1926, in Greene County, to Charles “C.R.” and Edith (Bledsoe) Bales. Mary became the wife of William B. Colbert on April 28, 1945.
Mary was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She retired from General Electric Linton Plant in 1985 with 30 years of service.
Survivors include one son, Harry R. Colbert of Linton; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Colbert; one son, William Mack Colbert; one daughter, Dixie L. (Colbert) Duke; two grandsons, William James and Paul David Duke; two granddaughters, Barbara and Carol Duke; brothers, Marion E. Bales and Homer Bales.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton, with Pastor Dan Kemp officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
