MONTGOMERY — Helen R.(Colvin) Gootee, 94, passed away at 9:34 a.m. Saturday at Washington Nursing Center. She was born Sept. 10, 1919, in Corning, to Charles L. and Agatha A. (Fields) McDonald. She attended Reeve Township schools and St. Mary of the Woods High School. She worked as a cook for Barr-Reeve schools for 22 years. She loved to cook and especially baking pies before she became ill. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter Altar Society.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Leo Barley of Cannelburg; son-in-law, Don Mattingly of Loogootee; six grandchildren, Chris Clark, Debbie Barley, Leo Barley Jr., Mike Mattingly, Diana Beckman, and Kim Downs; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren
She is preceded in death by her first husband, John Colvin, on April 3, 1978; her second husband, Edward Gootee, on Jan. 20, 1991; one son Michael Colvin; one daughter, Nancy Mattingly; two sisters, Mildred Brothers and Irene Harden; and one brother, Joe McDonald.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church, with Rev. James Koressel as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
