WASHINGTON — Charles R. Hamm, 80, of Washington, passed away peacefully April 7, with his longtime friend Robin by his side. Born March 20, 1933, in Washington, he was the son of Carl and Arizona (Lane) Hamm. He attended Washington schools and served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Renshaw-499 in Manilla, Phillipines, during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1960 and began working for the railroad. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Eagles. He is preceded in death by his faithful companion, his dog Blackie; his parents; brothers Robert, Gene and Donald Hamm; and sisters Catherine and Helen Hamm. The funeral will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at Gill Funeral Home, with Bro. Steve Dayton officiating. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
