---- — Ruby J. Adams, 97, of Washington, died at 8 p.m. Sunday at Heritage Center.
Born Sept. 27, 1914, in Wheatland, she was the daughter of William and Dora (Hiam) Oberst.
A 1932 graduate of Washington High School, she was a member of Antioch Christian Church. She had been employed at Murphy’s Department Store and at Sears as a credit manager, then more recently for the county assessor and the township trustee offices.
She is survived by a son, William R. (Mary Sue) Adams; a daughter, Vera “Sue” (Jerry) Lett; grandchildren, Norma Jean Kuepper, Harry Bernard Adams, Nesa Hope Wilson, Faith Danielle Hunt, Julia Wuertz, Marla Bean and Lisa Olson; 18 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Bernard Adams, whom she married April 3, 1936, died in 1999. One great-granddaughter, Chantel Wilson; one great-great-granddaughter, Audrey Clemons; and two brothers, Herschel and Charles Oberst, are also deceased.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Antioch Christian Church, with Wesley Wuertz officiating. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens.
Visitation is after 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
