Kenneth F. Tennis, 80, of Washington, passed away at 9 a.m. Saturday at his residence.
Born March 1, 1933, in Gibson County, he was the son of Francis P. and Mary I. (Healy) Tennis.
He was a 1951 graduate of Washington Catholic High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and Washington American Legion. He enjoyed a lifetime farming, fishing and hunting and loved raising and working with horses. In his last years he found joy in reading, gardening and visiting with his Amish friends.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Mattingly) Tennis, whom he married June 3, 1961; three daughters, Nancy (Kurt) Kahl of Marshall, Ill., Denice Waynescott of Washington, and Paula Love of Terre Haute; one son, Brian K. Tennis of Washington; eight grandchildren, Crystal King, Kenneth Waynescott, Ashton Waynescott, Jessica Kahl, Nicholas Kahl, Courtney Love, Mickenzie Love and Conner Love; one great-grandson, Dominick King; one sister, Eleanor (Tim) Mattingly of Montgomery; one brother, Richard (Mary Jane) Tennis of Montgomery; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, with Rev. Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will be at a later date.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church, with a wake service at 3:30 p.m., and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church.
