Dorothy Agnes VanHoy

June 29, 1927 - July 2, 2014

SHOALS —

SHOALS-- Dorothy Agnes VanHoy, 87, Shoals, went to her heavenly home Wednesday at 6:13 a.m. at Daviess Community Hospital. 

She was born June 29, 1927 in Martin County to Albert Thomas Berry and Myrtle (Franklin) Todd-Berry-Holland. Dorothy married Thomas Randall VanHoy, Sr., on Sept. 7, 1947 and he passed away April 19, 1997. 

Dorothy graduated from Shoals High School Class of 1945 and was a member of the Shoals United Methodist Church. She previously worked for the Shoals News and was a homemaker. 

She is survived by one daughter; Sandy L. and Arvell Crosby of Shoals, one son; Tom and Sue VanHoy of Loogootee and grandchildren Kristi Walker, Angie Lynch (Terry Sherman), Cindy (Tim) Sorrells,  Justin Crosby, Travis (Angel) Davis, Bob (Leslie) VanHoy, and Tammy (Adrian) Adams. Also surviving are 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one sister; Mary (Dal) Wade of Hammond and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two son-in-laws; Jim Heichelbech and Jack Lynch, one grandchild; Barbara Heichelbech, one great-grandson; Parker Crosby, grandson in-law; Tim Walker, four brothers; Walter Todd, Howard Todd, Albert Berry, and Raymond Berry as well as two sisters; Catherine Funk and Doris Pilarczyk. 

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday at Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Spring Hill Cemetery.
