---- — ELNORA — Helen “Dickie” Wildridge, 91, died at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday at her residence.
Born Feb. 7, 1922, in Daviess County, she was the daughter of Bert and Bertha (Taylor) Stringer.
She was a graduate of Elnora High School and Vincennes University. She was a bookkeeper at Custom Farm Service and retired in 1985. She also gave piano lessons, did volunteer work at Ketcham Memorial Center, and did public speaking. She was a member of Elnora United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and Homemakers Club. She was a former resident of Parkview Living Center where she was well taken car of.
She is survived by a two daughters, Berdeana M. Wildridge and Marie (John) Sherretz, both of Poseyville; a son, Steve (Connie) Wildridge of Freelandville; a special helper and old friend, Bill Byrer of Elnora; grandchildren, Aimee, Stephanie, Kelli, Trent and Josh; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, George Wildridge, whom she married Feb. 24, 1940, is deceased. The last of her family, she was also preceded in death by her parents; sisters Bertie, Bess and Mildred; brother Jack; and granddaughter Ardith Jordon.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Poindexter-McClure Funeral Home, Odon Chapel, with Rev. Debbie Payne officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
