---- — ELNORA — George Skomp, 83, died at 9:40 a.m. Thursday at his residence.
Born May 6, 1930, in Daviess County, he was the son of Clyde and Bessie (Smith) Skomp.
A graduate of Elnora High School, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He owned Elnora Package Liquor Store for 43 years and Allison for seven years. He was a member of Elnora Church of Christ, Elks Lodge and Elnora American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie (Freeman) Skomp, whom he married June 1, 1975.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wayne Skomp.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Poindexter-McClure Funeral Home, Odon Chapel, with Bro. Dan Ford officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and Saturday from noon until the service begins at the funeral home.
