Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Parsons

July 21, 1928 - Oct. 22, 2013

LOOGOOTEE — Elizabeth “Betty” Parsons, 85, died at 5:10 a.m. Tuesday.

Born July 21, 1928, in Loogootee, she was the daughter of Charles and Mary Evelyn (Arvin) McKinney.

She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Loogootee and had attended St. John’s High School. Betty enjoy crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by one son, Don and wife Carolyn Parsons of Columbus, Ga.; one daughter, Carol Steele of Loogootee; three granddaughters, Kayla, Kelli and Kristi Parsons of Columbus, Ga.; two stepgrandchildren, Scott Steele and Amber Parsons of Odon; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

Her husband, George O. “Jolly” Parsons, whom she married Sept. 10, 1955, is deceased. Also deceased are her parents; a son-in-law, Tony Steele; two brothers, Charles and Dellas McKinney; and five sisters, Mildred Osborne, Virginia Ward, Ada Marie Grafton, Marjorie Klem and Carrie Bledsoe.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery in Loogootee.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tony Steele scholarship fund at the First National Bank in Odon.
