Joe Ringwald, 59 of Loogootee, Indiana died at 1:20 a.m. on Nov. 1, 2013 at the Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, Ind.

He was born Dec. 18, 1953 in Madison, Ind. to Wilfred “Bill” and Catherine (Thinnes) Ringwald.

On Nov. 6, 1976 he married Mary (Nolan) Ringwald on Nov. 6, 1976 and she survives.

Joe was a 1972 graduate of Shawe Memorial High School in Madison and a graduate of Rose Hulman College in Terre Haute.

He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Loogootee and was a 3rd degree member of the Loogootee Knights of Columbus.

He was mechanical engineer at NSWC Crane and was very active with the Loogootee High School Band Boosters and the Relay for Life.

Joe enjoyed Star Trek, playing video games and being with his grandchildren. He was an also avid Colts football fan and Detroit Red Wing hockey fan.

Joe is survived by three daughters, Katie Fleckenstein of Carmel, Erin Doyle (Ian) of Jasper and Sarah Burch (Stephen) of Westfield, Ind.

He is also survied by two sons, Tommy Ringwald of Huntingburg, Ind., and Simon Ringwald of Loogootee.

He had five grandchildren, Zach, Emily, Ally, Kyle and Kelly Fleckenstein.

He had seven brothers and six sisters.

His brothers include; Jim Ringwald of Hiawatha, Iowa; Leo Ringwald of Naperville, Ill.; Mike Ringwald of Loogootee, Ind.; Donald Ringwald of New Lenox, Ill.; David Ringwald of Madison, Ind.; Andy Ringwald of Loogootee and Charlie Ringwald of Cambridge City, Ind.

His six sisters included: Marilyn Swift of Indianapolis; Karen McClure of Madison; Barb Grandstaff of Everett, Washington; Theresa Buehler of Chicago; and Pat Turner of Indianapolis.

He was preceeded in death by his parents Wilfred “Bill” and Catherine (Thinnes) Ringwald

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at St. John Catholic Church in Loogootee. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery in Loogootee.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, at Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. There will be a K of C Memorial Service conducted at 6 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flower memorial donations may be made to the Relay for Life or the American Red Cross.
