Ada Mae Slaubaugh

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — Ada Mae (Graber) Slaubaugh, 100, formerly of Montgomery, died at 2:05 a.m. Saturday at Cherry Hill Haven Senior Living Center in Traverse City.

Born July 6, 1913, in Mylo, N.D., she was the daughter of Levi J. and Katie (Gingrich) Graber.

She was a member of Providence Mennonite Church in Montgomery where her late husband Rev. John "Tip" Tobias Slaubaugh was the former minister.

Ada was a skilled merchant and enjoyed spending time working at the Black Oak Motel with Harlen and Mary Hindman and their daughters Sue, Betty and Jane, whom she dearly loved. She rose early while it was still dark and baked bread and cinnamon rolls for all within her household and for any visitors lucky enough to stop by for a visit.

As long as she was able, she laid her hands to making blankets for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters, Darlene and husband Frank Stoll of Traverse City, Joyce Stoll of Harrisonburg, Va., and Inez and husband (Denny Marlow) Slaubaugh of Grand Blanc, Mich.; one son-in-law, Nelson and wife Martha Martin of Avon; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Rev. John "Tip" Tobias Slaubaugh, whom she married Nov. 25, 1937, died April 19, 2009. Her parents; one daughter, Vivian (Slaubaugh) Martin; and 12 siblings are also deceased.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Providence Mennonite Church in Montgomery. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation is from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the church.

Arrangements are being made through Brocksmith-Blake and Wagler Funeral Home in Montgomery. Online condolences may be made at www.brocksmithblakefuneralhomes.com
