VELPEN — Mary Ann Vaughn, 82, passed away at 7 a.m. Sunday in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
Born Jan. 29, 1932, in Velpen, she was the daughter of Ralph and Ruth (King) Henning.
Mary was a retired Otwell Elementary School teacher. She was a member of the Winslow Order of the Eastern Star and enjoyed crocheting, sewing and scrapbooking.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Janet Vaughn of Velpen; two daughters, Kathy Vaughn of Marietta, Georgia, and Linda Vaughn of Velpen; one stepdaughter, Carol Cherry of Lakeland, Florida; one sister, Imogene Russell of Winslow; four grandchildren, Darla Sullivan of Lynnville, Kurt Vaughn of Petersburg, Melissa Vaughn of Evansville, and Katie Vaughn of Velpen; two stepgrandchildren, Delorah Eileen Miller and Harold Frederick “Rick” Miller, both of Florida; and eight great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Chester H. Vaughn, whom she married Dec. 6, 1950, in Otwell, died March 19, 2014.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Velpen.
Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
