Thelma Connaughton

CHANDLER — Thelma R. Connaughton, 85, passed away at 3:45 p.m. June 10 at Deaconess Hospital-Gateway Campus.

Born Sept. 30, 1928, in Washington, she was the daughter of the late Eli and Julia (Pershing) Cunningham.

A 1946 graduate of Washington High School, she was a member of New Hope Christian Church and recently attended Cross Roads Christian Church of Newburgh. She had worked at UniRoyal, Murphy’s and Wal-Mart. She enjoyed her grandchildren and her family. Thelma was a joy to be around and her smile will be greatly missed.

She is survived by a son, Steven R. Connaughton (Annette) of Chandler; two grandchildren, Justin Connaughton (Le Cheire) and Alicia Konopka (Caleb); and two expected great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Robert N. Connaughton, whom she married Sept. 25, 1948, died April 25, 2001. One son, William Joseph Connaughton, is also deceased.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Gill Funeral Home, with Rev. Ron Raymond officiating. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
