Helen Jane Himsel, 79, of Washington, passed away at 4 a.m. Friday at Willow Manor Nursing Facility in Vincennes.
Born Feb. 7, 1935, in Washington, she was the daughter of Wilma J. (Chapman) and Stanley E. Dayton Sr.
A 1953 graduate of Washington High School, she was a member of First Baptist Church. She was owner and operator of Himsel Apple Orchard. She was involved in various church activities, enjoyed music and shared a love of sports with her husband.
They attended many Hatchet’s games. She enjoyed being with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Martha Jane Overton and Lois Ann Nash (David); one son, Paul William Himsel (Debbie); grandchildren, Kristin Nash Hancock (Joe), Brandon Nash, Adam Overton (Kathy), Casey Jo Himsel and Justin William Himsel; and one sister, Virginia Tolson.
Her husband, Jerry William Himsel, whom she married May 15, 1955, passed away March 13, 2002. Also deceased are a son-in-law, Kenny Overton, and a brother, Stanley E. Dayton Jr.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gill Funeral Home, with Tim Baxter officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.
Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial donations are to First Baptist Church choir.
