James Douglas Crane went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, June 28, 2014 at his home. During his stay here on earth, Jim touched many lives, he was a new man after giving his life to the Lord. He was a prayer warrior, and a soul seeker for the Lord whom he loved.
He was the son of the late James P. and D. Jane (Schild) Crane. He married Serria Sue (Potts) Ragsdale, Jan. 23, 1980.
He leaves behind two sons who he loved very much, James P. Crane of Montgomery, Indiana and Jon D. Crane of Warner Robins, Georgia; three step children, Ricky Ray Ragsdale (Maria) of Adrian, Georgia, Janice D (Ben) Markley of Elizabeth City, NC and Marty Ray Ragsdale of Washington. Jim was the grandfather of 10 beautiful grandbabies, and four great-grandchildren.
He also leaves behind a step-father Marion Shepard; a sister, Carol (Mike) Bower, one nephew Lance (Cobi) Bower, and many beloved cousins.
Jim went into the Navy on Aug. 16, 1969 to Feb. 5, 1971 serving aboard the USS Intrepid.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a Postal Carrier, and agent for Farm Bureau Insurance. He was the Manager of the Knights of Columbus and Seasons Restaurant, and a salesman for Moorman Feed. He retired from the Daviess County Security Center. This was the job he loved, and the people he worked with became his extended family.
Jim was a member and Deacon at Grace Baptist Church.
Jim was a man of many talents. He loved fishing with his cousin Steve, raised and trained beagles for Dog-Trails, but he is best known for the work he did with his hands; grapevine trees, willow furniture and clay sculptures.
Jim will be missed by everyone whose lives he touched in someway, but most by his loving family.
