LOOGOOTEE — Barbara S. Parsons, 80, died at 9:06 p.m. Thursday at Daviess Community Hospital in the presence of her loving family.

Born July 9, 1933, in Loogootee, she was the daughter of Willie and Iona (Strawn) Walton.

She was a 1951 graduate of Loogootee High School and a 1954 graduate of Vincennes University. Barbara was a retired manager of the Martin County Co-Op Credit Union. She was a loving, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed being with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Jesse L. Parsons, whom she married Dec. 25, 1955; three daughters, Diane and husband Delbert Lengacher of Loogootee, Cheryl and husband Kim Kiltz of Washington, Carolyn and husband Roger Downey of Loogootee; one brother, Wayne Walton of Loogootee; one sister, Mary Peek of Loogootee; nine grandchildren, Stephanie and husband Keith Knepp, Courtney Lengacher, Ashley and husband Jason Harris, Lacey Lengacher, Derek Kiltz, Brecklyn Kiltz, Dylan Kiltz, Nick Downey and Blythe Downey; eight great-grandchildren, Nichole Knepp, Dalton Knepp, Kayden Knepp, Avery Knepp, Riley Harris, Brailey Harris, Isaiah Shake and Carter Downey.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Oral Walton.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Loogootee United Methodist Church in Loogootee.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the church and after 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Helping Hands Hospice.
