LOOGOOTEE — Mary Alice Hanger, 84, died at 3:10 a.m. Monday at the former Martin County Health Care and Rehab Center in Loogootee. Born April 29, 1928, in Martin County, she was the daughter of Forrest and Ethel (Bethel) Lankford. She was a member of the Loogootee United Methodist Church and had retired from RCA in Bloomington after 25 years of service. Mary was an avid bingo player and enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors at the nursing home. She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Sue and husband Karl Hoffman of Loogootee, and Alma Wagoner of Jasper; one brother, Randle Lankford of Loogootee; one stepsister, Debra Lankford of Avoca; two grandchildren, Vaughn Eric Wagoner of Jasper, and Ryan Michael Hoffman of Greenwood; and four great-grandchildren, Brice and Brie Hoffman and Keighan and Kerrigan Wagoner. Her husband, Charles Hanger, whom she married June 7, 1946, died Dec. 14, 2011. Her parents and one sister, Eva Mae Lankford, are also deceased. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. Burial will be in Goodwill Cemetery in Loogootee.
