WASHINGTON — Daniel E. Foster, 65, died Thursday afternoon at his residence.

Born Dec. 3, 1947 in Montgomery, he was the son of Virgil and Mary (Yates) Foster. He graduated from Alfordsville High School in 1965.

He worked for Hoover Superior Ball for several years also for Jasper Engines and was a jailer at the Daviess County Security Center for a short time. He retired from Maysville Enterprises in 2009. He loved fishing and stock car racing.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Holz) Foster, whom he married on July 5, 1969; a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa S. and Dave Hooten of Washington; a brother, Frank Foster of Loogootee; and three grandchildren, Adam Hooten, Matt Hooten and Lily Hooten, all of Washington.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Gail (Edwards) Foster, whom he married in February 1965, on Oct. 21, 1968. He is also preceded in death by a son, Danny Lee Foster; a daughter, Rebecca Anne Foster; his parents; a sister, Annavieve Foster; and a brother, Duane Foster.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church with Rev. Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will be in East Union Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Ed Lee Mortuary.
