Hugh E. Blaize, 86, passed away Thursday at his residence. He was born in Petersburg to Fred and Ida B. Steward Blaize on Jan. 17, 1927.
Hugh was a life-long farmer and served his country during World War II. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Petersburg.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruby Lane Blaize of Petersburg, sons Bill (Janet) Blaize of Petersburg, Brian (Kathy) Blaize of Washington, daughter Linda (Tom) Ewer of Petersburg, brothers Bob Blaize of Petersburg, Jim Blaize of Petersburg, Frank Blaize of Colorado Springs, Col., John Blaize of Brooksville, Fla., and sister Mary Schatz of Bicknell. Nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren also survive.
Hugh was preceded in death by brother’s George, Leonard, and Cork Blaize and sister Naomi Parker.
Visitation will be Sunday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Free Methodist Church in Petersburg and 8 a.m. until the start of the services Monday. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Free Methodist Church. The Rev. Danny Gilley Jr., Rev. Paul Newton, and Rev. Mark Schlechty will be officiating.
Burial will be in Williams Cemetery at Bowman. Arrangements were handled by Harris Funeral Home in Petersburg.
