SILVIS, Ill. — Martin E. “Bud” James, 87, formerly of Washington, died at 1 a.m. Monday at Genesis Hospital in Silvis. Born Sept. 5, 1925, in Washington, he was the son of Williams and Rosa May (Brown) James. He served in the U.S. Army as an engineer and retired from Rogers Group. He is survived by his wife, Betty (Conley) James, whom he married Feb. 20, 1965; two daughters, Loretta James of Moline, Ill., and Patty Jean James of Annecston, Calif.; one son, Robert Martin (Sherry Hill) James of Washington; one brother, Dan E. James of Washington; one sister, Dixie James Foster of Washington; and two grandchildren, Shawn and Nathan Smith of Annecston. He is preceded in death by his parents. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ed Lee Mortuary. Burial will be in Sugarland Memory Gardens, with military graveside rites by the Washington American Legion and V.F.W.
