Norma Wade

SHOALS — Norma L. Wade, 78, died at 2:36 p.m. Sunday at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital. Born May 19, 1934, in Martin County, she was the daughter of Emerson and Hazel Gertrude (Kidwell) Shipman. Norma graduated with the Class of 1952 from Shoals High School. She was formerly employed as secretary to the principal of the Shoals Community School Corporation. She also worked for Tredway’s Market in Shoals, and was a bookkeeper for Friesenhengst’s, Albright Insurance Agency, and Bill Dobson Ford. She was a faithful member of Shoals Christian Church. She is deeply loved and missed by her family, including daughters Tangela L. and Vincent Marsh of Anderson, Stacy and Daniel Owens of Shoals; sons, Daniel Scott and Sherry Wade of Shoals, and Kelly W. and Michele Wade of Mitchell; grandchildren, Will Owens, Melissa Garrison, Holly Carey, Vincent Marsh, Joshua Wade, Joana Wade and Jenna Wade; great-grandchildren, Sydney Owens, Ella Owens, Noelle Carey and Cooper Carey; one sister, Ruth Ann Roach of Shoals; nieces and nephews. Her husband, Wayne F. Wade, whom she married Christmas Day 1952 in Odon, died Feb. 17, 1999. She is also preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Barbara Pipher; and two brothers, James and Billy Shipman in childhood. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shoals Christian Church, with Bro. Matthew Sullivan officiating. She will be laid to rest in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church. Condolences may be made online to the family at www.queenlee.com
