---- — Sylvia Aline Young, 82, died at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Legends Village.

Born Aug. 28, 1931, in Knox County, she was the daughter of Buford and Mildred (Gilmore) Kellams.

A 1949 graduate of Oaktown High School, she was a retired bookkeeper at Ward and Hudson Ford and later was bookkeeper and office manager of Hoefling Truck and Tractor. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and Sunday school teacher of a youth group. She was a member of Psi Iota Psi sorority, a Girl Scout leader, a Pink Lady at Daviess Community Hospital, and a member of Retired Senior Volunteer Program.

She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia DeVault and Pat of Evansville; a son, Thomas Gilmore Young and Pon of Washington; and four grandsons, Bart Young of Chicago, Bravo Young serving in Afghanistan, Samuel and Spencer DeVault, both of Evansville.

Her husband, Thomas Robert Young, whom she married March 28, 1954, died in 2004. She is also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lee Worstell and Betty Funk.

The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Gill Funeral Home, with Rev. Ken Wells officiating.

Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
