Berniece E. Burch

LINTON — Berniece E. Burch, 95, formerly of Loogootee, passed away at 11:57 p.m. Thursday at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.

She was born Dec. 31, 1918 in Martin County to George and Mara (Freeman) Clifton. On Feb. 3, 1940, Berniece married Donald Burch and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1991.

Berniece was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Linton and a former member of the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, playing cards and watching horse racing.

She is survived by one son, Greg and his wife Diana Burch of Hopkinsville, Ky., and two daughters, Brenda and her husband Tom Nonte of Fort Wayne, and Donna and her husband Mike Lannan of Linton.

Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren,and three great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; George and Mara (Freeman) Clifton, husband; Donald Burch, daughter; Beverly Keating, two brothers; Leland and Jim Clifton and two sisters; Velma Ford and Mary Catherine Clifton.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at St. John Catholic Church in Loogootee. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery.
